The following clinics and courses will start to be run as a programme in 2009, however if there is anything on here you are interested in, then give us a call and let us know, as we should be able to accommodate you before then - if you really can't wait!

Weekend Course :

Horse Whispering

Sat 10:00 – Sun 16:00

During weekend courses, refreshments are provided throughout the day, along with lunch on both days.

Max Number : 4 people
Duration : 2 days
Cost : £175

This is going to be a very popular course, and one not to miss if you are serious about changing the way you handle and train your horse, as it will change the way to look at your horse forever. It is quite an intensive but very worthwhile course, it will cover the natural herd behaviour of the horse and how this effects the way they look at the world, and respond to what you ask of them. The major importance of body language and how you can use it to your advantage, and then you really can have conversations with your horse, once you talk to him in ‘Equus’ and treat him like a horse. There will be a variety of practical sessions in the round pen, which will endorse everything you learn.

Morning Clinics/Demos : 10.00 – 1.00

During the morning clinics, refreshments will be provided and we will finish at lunchtime.

Max Number : 5 people

Duration : 3 hours

Cost : £45

A demonstration of dealing with one of the most common issues that people have with their horses, it is useful but not essential to have previously attended the ground manners clinic, as many of the techniques used to address this problem relate to what is taught on the ground manners clinic.

Let's Get Your Youngster Started

Max Number : 5 people

Duration : 3 hours

Cost : £55

Now don’t go thinking you can bring your youngster here in the morning, and you can ride him home at lunchtime! This is a practical session where we aim to get at least 2 genuine youngsters in the round pen and get their first full tack on and them happily longlining and responding on longlines. If you have a youngster, bring him along.

Round Pen Work

Max Number : 5 people

Duration : 3 hours

Cost : £45

There is so much you can do with your horse in a round pen, other than go round and round! It is a very safe environment in which to work with young, spooky or untouched horses, and there are many exercises you can do with them, and when it is just you and your horse in a relatively confined but safe area, it is amazing what they will teach you…

Longlining

Max Number : 4 people

Duration : 3 hours

Cost : £45

A demonstration followed by a practical session in longlining. This such an underused training tool here in the UK, giving your horse much more balance and you much more control than lungeing.

Bombproofing Your Horse

Max Number : 5 people

Duration : 3 hours

Cost : £45

Rattling tins, flappy plastic bags, walking over tarpaulin, or between two bits of plastic, probably enough to send most horses into orbit. However, it is important that your horse learns to think and deal with things before the flight instinct kicks in. The only practical way of preparing them for this is to 'desensitise' them. We'll show you how.

Keeping Your Horse Barefoot

Max Number : 10 people

Duration 3 hours

Cost : £45

Lets face it given the choice, and the cost of keeping a horse in new shoes every 6-8 weeks, it is probably something we have all thought about at some time or other, but you cant keep a working horse barefoot, especially a TB type, or can you? All the horses here at Equusense are TBs and all are barefoot, and have excellent balanced feet. There is clearly more to it than just taking the shoes off, and giving them a rasp every now and again, but come and see how one of the worlds most renowned experts in the field of equine podiatry approaches the subject of getting horses barefoot.
